New Kitchen Faucet

This week, I wanted to share a little kitchen update and talk about my brand new kitchen faucet!

If you’ve been following along for a while now, you’ll recall that a little over a year ago, my house flooded in a freak tarp malfunction. We were in the midst of building an addition on our second story, and the tarp covering the newly framed section burst under the weight of the spring rain, flooding our entire house from the second story all the way down to the basement.

It took several months to clean up and repair the damages caused by the flood, and we undertook some of the projects ourselves to save money (repainting the stairs and refinishing our fireplace, for example).

One project involved repainting the kitchen cabinets.

Well, when we repainted the cabinets a nice, bright white and installed fresh black hardware, I began thinking about swapping the existing faucet for a matching black fixture. (You can see a nice image of the fresh white cabinets in my earlier blog post about morning routines).

I have also been wishing that our sink had one of those built-in soap dispensers since we first moved into this house. I had actually picked out a faucet with a matching soap pump when we purchased the house, but the builder forgot to install it (and I realized the fact too late).

Given my strong preference for clear countertops, the soap bottles and such next to the sink have bothered me a bit ever since.

But, as with so many things in life, the kitchen faucet just has never been a big enough priority. When we first moved in, we had unpacking and settling in to do. And then even after the flood, there were so many projects that needed our attention, I just didn’t want to add replacing the perfectly functional kitchen faucet to the list.

Then, when I acquired a gift card to a local hardware store and saved it especially for a new faucet…well, we decided to get a dog. And once we got the dog, my husband, JM, decided to make a dog kennel to give the dog an outdoor space.

The gift card was quickly used for kennel supplies, and again, my dreams of a black kitchen faucet with matching soap dispenser were dashed.

Until.

A random Tuesday.

When Joy, the master of all things sale/clearance, found my faucet.

Joy was browsing at the store one day for something different and stumbled upon a deeply discounted black matte kitchen faucet. The exact kind of faucet I had been hoping for – with a soap dispenser too!

She returned with me a few days later, I purchased it, and wah la! JM was able to remove the old one and install this replacement.

And doesn’t she look great!?

I’d say it was worth the wait.
