If it wasn’t implied from this post’s title, this week, I have an exciting announcement – and some minimalism-themed content to go along with it!
Yes, I am indeed pregnant with baby #4, and after the fatigue and nausea of the first trimester, I’m finally getting back into the swing of random challenges, projects, etc.
This week, I was finally ready to turn over my wardrobe. Although I am still wearing many regular, non-maternity clothes, a coworker and friend gave me a few maternity clothing pieces that finally left me feeling ready to pack away most of those regular clothes.
I’ve already shared my minimal wardrobe in the past, and it has honestly stayed pretty small (and may have even gotten smaller!) since September 2022.
As a result, transitioning to the limitations of a maternity wardrobe (since I am much too cheap to invest in many pieces of clothing that will be used for such a brief period, relatively speaking) is not too challenging for me.
Here’s what I ended up with:

If you read my previous post, you’ll notice that my closet layout is different. (Ignore the boxes of books stacked in one corner too, hah!)
I reduced my wardrobe enough to ditch the IKEA shelf I had placed inside and shift to a small hanging section with three overhead baskets.
I labeled each basket: casual wear, exercise, and underwear (I ended up swapping the accessories pictured in the bin for socks, underwear, and bras). And I hung my other items like work slacks, shirts, dresses, and my sweatshirt.

My wardrobe is clearly very much monochromatic and includes the following:
- 1 long sleeve black swing dress
- 1 tank top style black swing dress (I ended up storing the second one pictured because I definitely won’t need two over the winter)
- 1 long sleeve black blouse
- 1 long sleeve black ribbed t-shirt (not pictured)
- 1 short sleeve black blouse
- 2 pairs black work slacks

These items will be interchanged with my black cardigan (not pictured) for my days working in the office.
- 2 short sleeve black t-shirts
- 2 long sleeve tops (one darker gray, one light gray with print)
- 2 maternity jeans with full panel (1 dark blue, 1 black)
- 1 casual hooded black cardigan
- 3 black camisoles
- 1 black hooded sweatshirt (not pictured)

Exercise gear is where I have an excess of options, honestly. However, given the fact that I work out or exercise in some way (even if it is just yoga) every day, I do use these items in rotation. This is also the one area where I may need to purchase something (maternity performance tank tops).
- 5 pairs leggings (both maternity and non-maternity since these are pretty stretchy)
- 2 pairs of joggers
- 4 pairs of maternity shorts
- 2 workout tank tops
- 1 long sleeve running hoodie (performance fabric)

I also photographed shoes and accessories this time around; I hadn’t mentioned these items before. I have one black crossbody purse in the event I ever need one; two fashion scarves; and for shoes for the colder weather, I have 1 pair of slippers, 1 pair of running sneakers, 1 pair of walking sneakers, 1 pair of black work shoes, 1 pair of black low-heeled booties, 1 pair of Birkenstocks, and 1 pair of flip flops that I leave out for trips to the pool or for running out quickly (with socks, in true fashion style).

The only other clothing I own would be sleepwear: 2 long-sleeve pajama sets and some other nightwear. I store this in a small basket near my bed.
I love the simplicity of my wardrobe and the fact that nearly ever item goes with any other piece.
Pregnancy is a great opportunity to try out a minimal wardrobe if you never have before. I think you’ll be amazed by how few items you really need!
