Front porch refresh

This week…

We are just a few weeks away from moving back home! The renovation is complete upstairs and the builder is finishing the repairs and renovations from the flood damage.

We’ve been working hard on the outside of the house (and on the inside – more to come later!) in preparation for our return.

I managed to mulch the entire front entry garden this week – in one day.

The front door was also replaced this week.

Before

Initially I had painted the front door a bright “Hulk” green, but shortly before the flood, I decided to redo it and selected this vibrant blue.

Originally I painted the round oval around the glass the black, but it seemed to clash with the white trim. The white accent around the oval was much better.

During the rehabilitation of the lower level, though, our builder suggested we repair and replace the existing doorframe and door. It was hung crookedly and swung open in such a way that it could not fully open (and it blocked the stairs).

So we selected the sleek black door in the first photo – a much more modern look.

In my near future…

We will be able to enjoy our front porch again.

When I added cozy rocking chairs with some cushions and an area rug, it made the perfect cozy hang-out for watching the sun set or the kids play in the driveway.

I am very much looking forward to returning home and enjoying the view from our front porch again.
