The magic of a new grill

This week, I wanted to share some of our family’s recent adventures in cooking.

My husband, JM, has wanted a big green egg type smoker for at least 10 years. We always put off buying one because they are not cheap. Well last year right before Thanksgiving, JM found a similar type of grill used and went to pick it up. The goal was to use it a few times to figure out how it worked so he could smoke a brisket for Thanksgiving.

Well that experience ignited something inside of JM that made him want to learn how to cook.

Since then, he has smoked, ribs, chicken, brisket, bacon, jalapeño poppers, wings, and more.

Then, JM made soup and bread one weekend when I was sick (in the regular kitchen – not on the grill).

His new interest in cooking has been especially fun because it has given us another activity to do together. We made pizza together one weekend, and then recently he brought home a pasta maker and made homemade pasta with the kids.

I have been using the grill pretty frequently as well. It cooks so evenly without drying out or burning. I didn’t realize all these years that the grill is the problem and not my cooking skills.

We are loving our new addition and are hoping add a griddle-style grill next.
