This week, I wanted to share a belated recount of my no-spend November challenge. I’ve completed several no-spend challenges before but opted to take a slightly different tact this time.
Overall, I think no-spend November was a success for me.
The rules were simple: food and Christmas presents are ok and anything else unnecessary was not ok.
I was able to take advantage of several Black Friday type sales to get some presents for my kids and I was not stressed about hosting parties or making food for events because I didn’t limit my food spending. Several times my children mentioned needed a certain item of clothing that I was able to find in our clothing storage instead of purchasing.
Putting some limits or asking myself questions before spending money helped me to see if I was shopping for a purpose or just bored browsing.
The older I get, the more overwhelmed I am physically shopping in stores. So I naturally tend to avoid shopping in stores so that is not a temptation. But I definitely do a little bored browsing online shopping.
I feel like this could be implemented for several months or a year with some minor adjustments to included gifts for all occasions and necessary purchases that cannot be acquired from storage or repurposed from something else.
Maybe I’ll try this out in 2025. I’m already looking forward to my annual goals and vision board for 2025.
What’s on your 2025 challenge list? What are you considering doing? I’d love to hear from you!
