This week, we tackled another project on our household “to-do” list.
I know I reference our project list frequently, but we definitely aren’t the only household with a task list that seems to continually grow.
Last year, our top priority was the addition.
We had visions of working on the living room – beautifying the wall with our fireplace and moving the television.
And we knew we needed to work on our basement organization.
As you likely know by now if you’ve been following our blog for a while, the flood that occurred while our addition was being built pushed many of our projects to the top of the list (since so much of our house had to be gutted and repaired in the aftermath).
We did move the television when the living room was put back together, and we ended up mounting it on one of the shorter walls.

This honestly was a pretty challenging undertaking because our living room is on the smaller side and has a unique layout.
We also needed to add an electrical outlet and find new furniture that would work in the space.
Since we have a fireplace on one large wall, this also limited our options for arranging the furniture.
We finally figured out which couches would fit in the new configuration we wanted while also keeping the fireplace a focal point.
I loved that we were able to eliminate the little entertainment cabinet by mounting the TV since it enabled me to purge and minimize more clutter in our house!

Anyway, once we got the new television mounted on the wall, we decided some floating shelves would add appeal – and give me a place to grow my plant collection!
Joy, Sarah, and I have all been collecting more houseplants in recent months (and sharing propagated plants too, of course), and Joy even made her own plant wall when she redid her entryway.
Well, after searching high and low for the perfect “shelf guy,” I finally found someone locally who could recreate the aesthetic I had seen somewhere on the Internet.
In all the busyness of life, I lost track of that carpenter and ended up needing to find a different “shelf guy.”
When I did, I leaped into action and order the custom-built shelves.
My husband, JM, graciously mounted them right away, and I am so happy with the result!
Plus, now I have a reason to go plant shopping!
