This week, I wanted to share a glimpse at the finished product of a long-term project.
If you’ve been around a while, then you know we’ve been working to completely gut and renovate our basement since we purchased the property in early 2022.
I’ve shared several different updates (including this fourth one!) over the years, and now in 2025, we’ve finally finished the in-law apartment portion. My mom moved in this month, and she has been loving the solitude and privacy.
The in-law space includes a spacious bedroom with a large closet, a full bath, and a kitchenette/living space.
We still have finishing touches to complete (painting trim, adding the backsplash, and a few other minor things), but it feels so good to have her settled into her new space.
I also love the little entryway since it gives my mom space for hanging her jackets, leaving her shoes, and storing her dog accessories (leash, harness, etc.)
We have work to finish in the other half of our basement since this space includes our laundry area and playroom, but the pressure to finish the remaining projects is much less now that my mom is moved in.
Major kudos to my husband and father-in-law since they completed most of this work!
